A joy to jet

Presentation

A joy to jet

Have you ever used a machine gun-powered jet pack to fly through a top secret laboratory to freedom? The refreshingly unique Jetpack Joyride gives you the chance - and thanks to some crisp, cartoon style visuals, you'll have a great time while doing so.

From the very start, this quirky title doesn't take itself too seriously. The hero, a likeable everyday man by the name of Barry Steakfries, flies through a colourful laboratory full of hilarious scientists reacting to your actions. Some get comically zapped by their own deathtraps as they try to escape from Barry, others try to hide in plain sight. These Wile E. Coyote style boffins quickly become the stars of the show, as they get knocked across the screen, engulfed in flames and even high-five Barry as he zooms past them.

And while all of these memorable moments are played for laughs, each part of Jetpack Joyride is polished with the same attention to detail. You feel every bounce, bump and knock poor Barry takes during his adventures, before you come back and make him do it all again. Don't forget to save some of your - and Barry's - highlights during your game to the special photo album at the end of each attempt.

The ride of your life

Gameplay

The ride of your life

Strap on your machine gun jet pack for a unique high-flying adventure that blasts arcade action into the palms of your hands. Jetpack Joyride is all about short, intense blasts of entertainment that keep you coming back for one more go.

You control a struggling salesman called Barry Steakfries, who's trying to escape Legitimate Research's secret lab using a stolen jet pack. All you need to control Barry is one finger - by pressing a button or using the PlayStation Vita system's touch based features, you can launch our hapless hero into the air with a rattle of jet power.

Mastering this accessible control method is essential to Barry's chances of survival. The lab is full of lasers, guided rockets and electrical traps, all designed to turn Barry's flight of freedom into a short hop. Thankfully, there's help in the shape of handy suits and vehicles left around by Legitimate Research's careless scientists. Hop on the Bad As Hog motorcycle for a speedy power-up or take a ride on the ferocious robot dragon Mr Cuddles.

With its entertaining collectable items, a massive variety of mission objectives such as reaching a certain distance or collecting a number of coins, Jetpack Joyride is brilliantly addictive. The randomly generated obstacles keep you on your toes and the longer you last during your attempt, the more the level speeds up - so you need nerves of steel and swift reflexes to survive. Wipe down those sweaty palms, post your best scores online and blast Barry back into action.
